Earn High School CreditsStudents earn a minimum of 3 credits towards graduation each year for their Career and Tech program. Additional courses, such as math, science and physical education, may be added to individual student’s schedules, depending on interest.

Integrated Academic CreditsStudents can earn 1 credit of math and 1 credit of science towards graduation by enrolling in the majority of the Career and Tech programs. These credits are earned through applying math and science related concepts throughout their Career and Technical field of study.

Earn College CreditsSeveral CTE programs offer the opportunity college credits from Tompkins Cortland CC. through a program call concurrent enrollment. Students receive a transcript from Tompkins Cortland CC that can be transmitted to the college of their choice upon completion of the program. Industry CertificationsMost Career and Tech courses offer industry certifications in their chosen field. These certifications can be obtained by successfully completing the Career and Tech program, attaining required technical skills, and passing written and/or practical examinations. Students can use these certificates for direct employment and/or for career advancement.

Articulation AgreementsAll Career and Tech programs have at least one articulation agreement with a college or university in their related field of study. These agreements allow students advanced placement and/or college credit for their CTE education.

Internships and Employment SkillsStudents will learn the technical, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful upon graduation. Internships provide students with experience in their chosen field, in addition to making valuable connections with employers in our area. Many employers hire Career and Tech students who participate in internships in their place of business.

Student RecognitionAll Career and Tech students are eligible to attain Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, and/or Outstanding Student of the Month awards for their achievements. Second year students will receive their Completer Certificate upon successful completion of their Career and Tech Program at the annual ceremony. Students may earn their NYS Career and Technical Endorsement upon completion of their program.

Health Occupations Students of America Students in the Nurse Assisting and Health Occupations program may participate in this health care national student leadership organization. HOSA students can participate in leadership training, workshops and national conferences. Students walk away with a vast network.

Future Farmers

SkillsUSAStudents in all Career and Tech Programs are eligible to become a member of this student leadership organization. SkillsUSA students strengthen their leadership, communication, and technical skills through participation in community service projects, leadership workshops and conferences, and competing in regional, state and national competitions.
