Rick Hinman

Auto Tech Teacher

I have been teaching in the automotive field for 25 years. Most of that time here at The Career and Tech Center. Before my teaching career started, I was a factory GM Technician. I received my AAS degree in Automotive Technology from SUNY Morrisville, and my BS in Vocational Education from SUNY Oswego.  I enjoy hunting, riding snowmobiles, sunsets over a lake, and anything auto related.

2014 Dryden HS Alum

"I chose to attend the Auto Tech Program because mechanical things always fascinated me.  Mr. Hinman gave me a great head start into the automotive field by teaching me basic skills used to repair vehicles.  Based on my hard work and dedication, I earned the 2014 Career and Tech Center Student of the Year Award.  I currently work as the Head Mechanic at Cincinnatus Central School Bus Garage."

"I chose to attend the Auto Technology class at BOCES because it is a good option for kinesthetic learners and those who struggle to learn in regular classrooms. BOCES gave me a "break" from the normal high school experience, and it allowed me to make new friends as well as gain new experiences. I encourage all students to take this program!  They can learn not only important life skills, such as customer service and time management, but also simple car maintenance that could not only help you, but help others."
