Construction Trades Teacher
Teaching has always been one of my greatest passions. I went to college to be a high school English teacher, and I worked a combined eight years as an educator for the Ithaca City School District and the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Along the way, I bought my first house, and as I completed a bunch of DIY home improvement projects, I discovered another one of my greatest passions – carpentry. Fixing up my house was so much fun, I decided to take a leap into a totally different career, and I got a job at a local construction company. I started off in an entry level position with an eagerness to learn, and in my four years as a carpenter, I worked my way up to managing projects and other carpenters. I’ve been fortunate to be able to keep my teaching skills sharp by working part time at Hammerstone Carpentry School for women in Trumansburg, but the pull to teaching full time was ultimately too strong to keep me away. I’m excited to have found a position here at TST BOCES that allows me to combine my love of carpentry and my love of teaching. Let’s build something together!
